My name is Mike Dewar from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service K9 team, I am 43 years old and am in charge of the K9 unit in my service, I have been a fire-fighter for 21 years, I have 3 dogs in the team in Manchester, Echo who is a search and rescue dog and works with our USAR team, he is 8 years old and his job is to locate people who are trapped under collapsed buildings, he is a yellow Labrador and also a multi award winner, some of his achievements to date are being part of the team that won the pride of Britain 2010 award for his actions during the Haiti earthquake, he was also the IFAW animal of the year 2010 and was a runner up in the crufts friends for life award in 2011, we also have a Fire Scene Investigation dog called Cracker, she is 6 years old a and again a yellow Labrador, she is a very busy dog attending 146 calls in 2010, she also undertakes community work educating people to the dangers of fire and arson related crime, the last dog I want to introduce is Ace, Ace is 1 year old yellow Labrador, he is a trainee USAR dog, he is full of life and just like any other 1 year old Lab he is mischievous and likes to run and play with the other dogs.
